V. Our Solution

Pitstop is an IoT product concept designed to bring automotive diagnostics into the cloud. At its core, it offered drivers an innovative way to monitor their car’s health through a small OBD2 device paired with a mobile app.

By plugging into the vehicle system, Pitstop could capture critical data and transmit it to the cloud. Users could then access diagnostics, reports, and alerts directly from their phones. It aimed to revolutionize how drivers interacted with their vehicles, making maintenance proactive and accessible.

01.

Problem

Diagnostics locked in garages.

Traditional car diagnostics were fragmented and often inaccessible to everyday drivers. Most owners only engaged with their car’s health during breakdowns or costly mechanic visits. This reactive approach led to inefficiencies, higher costs, and frustration.

Pitstop identified this gap but faced the challenge of communicating a complex IoT product in a way that was both relatable and trustworthy. Without clear branding and user-friendly design, the innovation risked alienating its intended audience.

02.

Our Synthesis

IoT meets everyday drivers.

Our synthesis was to present Pitstop as a bridge between complex automotive technology and everyday usability. The brand had to inspire trust through simplicity, while the platform had to make diagnostics intuitive.

This approach meant packaging IoT sophistication in a way that felt like empowerment for drivers. Pitstop was positioned as not just a device, but a digital companion for car ownership — one that offered clarity, savings, and peace of mind.

03.

Ideation

Dashboards with no jargon.

We explored branding concepts that emphasized precision and connectivity. Visual motifs revolved around cars, data flows, and cloud ecosystems. Narratives highlighted the shift from reactive maintenance to proactive intelligence.

On the app side, ideation focused on simple dashboards, intuitive navigation, and alerts that made sense to everyday users. The experience had to translate automotive data into language and visuals that inspired confidence rather than confusion.

04.

Experimentation

Real drivers, real alerts.

Prototypes tested how users engaged with the app’s diagnostic flows. Iterations refined dashboards to ensure clarity of data visualization. Early branding mockups were tested to gauge resonance with drivers, balancing modern technology cues with accessibility.

Experimentation also included user scenarios, such as receiving alerts for potential breakdowns or reviewing historical performance data. These real-world tests validated the practicality and appeal of the concept.

05.

Our Solution

A car companion in your pocket.

The final solution was a conceptual product identity and platform that made IoT automotive diagnostics accessible. Pitstop’s brand system emphasized innovation and trust, while the app design ensured clarity and simplicity.

By combining hardware, cloud connectivity, and user-friendly design, Pitstop positioned itself as a revolutionary companion for drivers. It turned complex data into actionable insights, empowering everyday car owners to take control of their vehicle’s health.
